Bio
GÜNEŞ TERKOL (1981 – Ankara, TR) graduated from the Painting Department in the Faculty of Fine Arts at Mimar Sinan University. Afterwards, she received a Master’s degree in the Art and Design Department at Yıldız Technical University. In 2018, she completed her pedagogical formation at Mimar Sinan University. Using fabric, video, sewing, sound, and drawing, the artist deals with issues around gender in her body of work.
Believing in the great importance of collective work and coming together with a common goal, the artist has produced collective works in workshops in different countries and cities, departing from participants’ everyday realities and imaginaries as
inspiration. Since 2005, the artist has produced works individually, as well as with the
art collective Ha Za Vu Zu, Alaca Heyheyler, and she continues to perform in her music group GuGuOu.
Terkol’s work has been exhibited internationally at institutions including SALT (Istanbul), Istanbul Modern, Künstlerhaus Stuttgart, and has participated in major biennials including the Sharjah Biennial and Istanbul Biennial. She was a resident at Art Explora Residency, [FR]ISCP New York, and has been represented by Ferda Art Platform.
