Kaya Genç – ARTFORUM April 2026
Terkol’s recent exhibition “Epipe,” combining drawings, animations, and stitched works, was the outcome of a similarly collective process spanning an extended period. Since 2002, Terkol has been conducting oral history and archival work with her mother, Elmira Terkol.

Güneş Terkol’s Epipe at Salt Galata traced one such journey,taken by her own family. It saw them settling in Harbin in Manchuria, a Russian-built railway company town that was subsequently occupied
by Imperial Japan before falling to Chinese rule. Following the Second
World War, the family moved on to Türkiye, with stops in Hong Kong
and India along the way.
